Bukit Tinggi Food Adventures

In the months of May and June, we made 2 gastronomic trips to the town of Bukit Tinggi, along the Karak Highway. The journey from SS2 to Bukit Tinggi town took us 1 hour. We had the options to either driving along the MRR2-Melawati link road or DUKE-Ampang highway from PJ.
The first trial was at Restoran Loong Sing, which was recommended by other food bloggers. We ordered some signature dishes suggested by the owner.

We had 1/2 portion of Steamed Kampung Chicken with liver and gizzards. The taste was just perfect, not too salty and rich with chicken stock flavour. Cost was RM23.00, considered reasonable.

Next, the highly recommended Steamed Cat Fish or "Pak Sou Kung", with fragrant and tasty superior soy sauce. Cost of this dish was RM30/kg, very cheap...compared to Tanjung Tualang where we were charged RM35/kg!

This is Homemade Tofu with Minced Pork, very tasty and the texture of the tofu was excellent! One of the best tofu dish we have ever tried. Cost only RM8.00 for a portion. Good bargain indeed :)

The second visit to Bukit Tinggi town, we decided to try out at another popular restaurant called
Restoran 126. We ordered some of the in-house recommended dishes as below and no regrets.

The Steamed Cat Fish in superior soy sauce was excellent, on par with Restoran Loong Sing's standard. Cost was RM30.00/kg, reasonable.

This is Tofu with Minced Pork, slightly below the benchmark level of Loong Sing's.

For seafood, we tried the Soy Sauce Braised Sea Prawns, which was XXL in size. A total of 7 pieces of XXL prawns weighed 500g, which cost RM35.00 per serving.

The Wild Boar meat cooked in black pepper was very well-marinated and did not taste gamy. The meat was tender and just perfectly cooked.
All in all we paid RM95.00 for the above 4 dishes with an additional Fried Watercrest vegetables excluding drinks......worth the distance travelled.
The address is
Restoran 126
